Ah, if only all it took to run a massage practice were my hands….
As it is, I will be needing equipment and other materials such as a massage table and oils, as well as means to set up an admin/backend system. I have spent quite some time searching for those items that would both serve my prospective client base the best, as well as reflect my personal values in terms of ecological sustainability.
A short history: I’ve enjoyed giving massages since childhood, when I was taught a few basic techniques to be able to massage my mother while she was undergoing treatment for a slipped disc. As an adolescent my interest grew, as I learned more about anatomy and the human body. I would regularly massage friends and even though back then my techniques and style were mostly intuitive, they enjoyed it and kept coming back for more. Fast forward two decades and I have since taken several massage courses and am now working towards official certification in the field of sports massage. This means I now have extensive knowledge of anatomy and of common muscle/joint-related injuries, as well as a mastery of different massage techniques and styles.
